                    The public is invited to help StarTran "Stuff the Bus" by donating new items needed by women and children at the Friendship Home, a 24-hour emergency shelter for women and their children experiencing domestic violence

            City Property for Sale Listed on City Website
                    In an effort to make it easier for citizens to locate surplus City land available for sale, Mayor Chris Beutler today announced that a complete listing is available on the City website at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: surplus). The site includes a searchable database with aerial photos, addresses, parcel sizes and zoning.                
            Mayor Says User Fees Increases Help Prevent Property Tax Hike
                    Mayor Chris Beutler today said user fee increases helped his administration meet its main objectives for the City's first biennial budget - no property tax increase, no major program cuts and no use of one-time money for ongoing programs.                 
            New Downtown Building Named for Roger Larson
                    Downtown Lincoln's newest building has been named the Larson Building to honor business and community leader Roger Larson. Mayor Chris Beutler and Block 38 LLC made the announcement at this morning's grand opening of the new ten-story building on "Q" Street between 13th and 14th streets.                
            Grand Opening of Catalyst Building Set for Monday
                    Mayor Chris Beutler and Block 38 LLC will participate in the grand opening and naming announcement for the downtown Catalyst building at 10 a.m. Monday, July 23. The ten-story building is on the north half of the block bounded by 13th, 14th, "Q" and "P" streets. The $31 million project includes 17,000 square feet of first-floor retail, six floors of City-operated parking, 52 units in the Parkhaus residential complex on the top three floors, and a green roof                
            NELSON CALLS FOR AUDIT OF OMAHA HOUSING AUTHORITY

            $350,000 awarded for homebuyer assistance for new and existing homes in SE Nebraska

            City Gives Building Owners 10 Days To Take Action On Damaged Buildings
                    March 9, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Mayor Chris Beutler said the City today sent dangerous building  notices to the owners of two "O" Street buildings damaged by fire  December 12.   The notices give the owners 10 days to repair or demolish  the buildings between 9th and 10th streets that housed Romantix and a  former piano business.  If no action is taken in 10 days, the City can  proceed with demolition of both buildings and bill the owners for the  expense.                
            Mayor To Honor Residents Who Helped Apartment Residents Escape Fire
                    February 17, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Mayor Chris Beutler will present the Mayor's medallion tomorrow to  Karen Jordan-Anderson and Criz Sanchez who helped residents of an  apartment complex escape a December fire. The presentation will take  place at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, February 17 at UPS, 3133 N. 33rd Street.  Sanchez is a UPS driver, and Jordan-Anderson is a family program manager  for the Nebraska Air National Guard                
            Mayor Says Legislative Action Could Increase Local Property Taxes Or Lead To Major Cuts
                    February 3, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Mayor Chris Beutler today said cities are willing to do their part to  help the State solve its budget crisis.  But he called on the State  Legislature to reconsider proposals that could force cities to raise  property taxes and make major service cuts.  He said the State, through a  combination of actions and inactions, is in danger of creating a  "destructively adverse" financial situation for cities and cited three  areas of concern
