Fifteen projects awarded $2.029 million from Civic and Community Center Financing Fund
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded $2,029,420 from its Civic and Community Center Financing Fund (CCCFF) to 15 cities for projects related to the development and/or renovation of civic, community and recreation centers. This includes building new and renovating or expanding existing facilities (including converting, rehabilitating or reusing historic buildings), and conducting planning studies (engineering and technical).
Chet Ager Building, Most Trails Reopen at Nature Center
The Chet Ager Building and most of the trails have reopened at the Pioneers Park Nature Center. The facilities were closed last week after flooding. Some trail segments will remain closed until further notice.
Committee Investigates EPA’s Attack on Power Plants
The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works convened a hearing this afternoon to hear testimony on how the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed carbon regulations would harm hardworking families, minorities, and businesses of all sizes. The committee also investigated the Affordable Reliable Energy Now Act (ARENA) bill cosponsored by U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.).

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Scheduled for Friday June 19
Lincoln and Lancaster County residents are encouraged to clean out unwanted chemicals by bringing their household hazardous waste to a collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Union College, South 52nd and Cooper Ave. This event is sponsored by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department

McCook EDC awarded $297,060 Site and Building Development funding
McCook EDC is using the funding to help American Agricultural Laboratory, specializing in soil and tissue testing for the national and international agriculture markets, to renovate and retrofit the former 90x40-sq. ft. ALCO building for its expanded operations. The project will create five full-time jobs, and retain13 full-time and six part-time existing positions
Water Main Replacement Set to Begin May 11

No-Interest Loan Program Improves Homes and Neighborhoods
Mayor Chris Beutler today said the City's Home Improvement Loan Program (HILP) is another tool to strengthen neighborhoods across Lincoln. Through HILP, zero-interest loans are available to qualified low- to moderate-income homeowners for up to $15,000, and the monthly loan payments can be extended for as long as ten years.
