Lincoln, NE – March 26, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — In observance of National Fair Housing Month, the Lincoln Commission on Human Rights (LCHR) will present its annual Fair Housing Conference April 21 and 22 at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln. This year’s focus is on public housing with a session targeted at the needs of public housing authorities. There is no registration fee to attend the conference, however, there is a charge of $25 to attend the Awards Luncheon April 22. The registration deadline is April 6.
On April 21, the Realtors® Association of Lincoln is sponsoring a session for Realtors® called “Fair Housing Law: A Legal Update.” The presenter will be John Relman, an attorney with Relman and Dane Law Firm, Washington, D.C. The seminar is available for three continuing education hours for Realtors® , however all those interested are welcome to attend.
Wednesday’s sessions begin at 10 a.m. with a welcome from actress Elena Dodd portraying Eleanor Roosevelt. After a plenary session on diversity, participants will break for the Fair Housing Awards luncheon. Breakout sessions set for the afternoon include: Fair Housing for Community and Nonprofit Organizations, Immigration and Fair Housing, Fair Housing and Disability Modifications and the Foreclosure Crisis in Nebraska.

LCHR is sponsoring the 2009 Fair Housing Conference in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Nebraska Housing Developers Association, Nebraska Realtors® Association and the Realtors® Association of Lincoln. The conference is funded in part through an HUD Capacity Building Grant.
