Lincoln and Lancaster County residents can dispose of unwanted chemicals by bringing them to a household hazardous waste collection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at Wal-Mart, 87th and Highway 2. This event is sponsored by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department and is for households only. Business waste will not be accepted
No-Interest Loan Program Improves Homes and Neighborhoods
Mayor Chris Beutler today said the City's Home Improvement Loan Program (HILP) is another tool to strengthen neighborhoods across Lincoln. Through HILP, zero-interest loans are available to qualified low- to moderate-income homeowners for up to $15,000, and the monthly loan payments can be extended for as long as ten years.

Real Property Value Percentage Change 2013-2014
The Nebraska Department of Revenue, Property Assessment Division, has processed the 2014 Real Property Abstracts of Assessment filed by the 93 Nebraska county assessors. Preliminary analysis indicates that real property valuations have increased 12.45% from 2013 to 2014, resulting in an increase in valuation of approximately $20.93 billion
Nebraska Homestead Exemption Changes for Tax Year 2014
The Nebraska Department of Revenue announces that the income eligibility amounts for applicants of the homestead exemption program for tax year 2014 have changed. (See Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 77-3507, 77-3508, and 77-3509, as amended Please review the new income tables and apply for the homestead exemption if you are now eligible. Claimants who have already filed 2014 homestead exemption applications and income statements do not need to refile or take any additional action. The new income amounts will be used by the Department of Revenue to determine the percentage of exemption for 2014

Mayor Says Reinstating State Aid Will Lead to Property Tax Relief
Mayor Chris Beutler today asked State lawmakers for help to reduce the local property tax burden by reinstating State aid to municipalities. Beutler testified before the Nebraska Legislature's Tax Modernization Committee at a public hearing in Norfolk. Beutler, a former State Senator, addressed the Committee as Mayor of Lincoln and as President of the League of Nebraska Municipalities.
Real Property Tax Credit for Tax Year 2013
The State of Nebraska will offset a portion of real property taxes levied in 2013. The Property Tax Credit Act provides a real property tax credit based upon the valuation of each parcel of real property compared to the valuation of all real property in the state. The total amount of credit available for statewide distribution in 2013 is $115 million. The property tax credit will be shown on tax statements as a credit after the full taxes levied.
