NORTH PLATTE, NEB. – June 2, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded $200,000 HOME Community Housing Development Organization funding set aside as part of the 2007 Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund to the nonprofit Lincoln County Community Development Corporation (CDC).

Lincoln County CDC is using the funding to acquire six existing homes for rehabilitation and resale to families earning at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Family Income, and to establish a homeowner program.

Rehab includes correcting major deficiencies in plumbing, electrical wiring, heating and roofing. To qualify for the program properties must require at least $5,000 in repairs to meet housing codes.

Along with local reuse funds, Nebraska Housing Developers Association and Federal Home Loan Bank will be partnering with Lincoln County CDC in the homeowner program efforts.
