More than $5.4 million grant funding awarded for affordable housing projects

LINCOLN, NEB. – September 2, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $5,409,677 grant funding to communities and local housing partnerships as part of the 2009 Nebraska Affordable Housing Program. 

Grants are made available to fund housing projects statewide through a combination of programs, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership, and Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF). All projects listed benefit low- and moderate-income households.

Projects receiving $1,196,000 in grants in the Western Region include:

• Western Nebraska Housing Opportunities, Scottsbluff—$305,000 to provide assistance for 75 homebuyers living in Scotts Bluff County, earning at or below 100 percent  of the Area Median Family Income (AMI), who are purchasing newly constructed and/or existing homes, as well as for any needed rehabilitation work once the existing homes are purchased.
