$1.84 million awarded for owner-occupied housing rehab in seven communities

LINCOLN, NE – October 2, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $1,847,600 as part of the 2015 Nebraska Affordable Housing Program to seven communities to pursue owner-occupied rehab housing projects. Funding comes from the federal Community Development Block Grant program that is administered by DED.

Receiving funding:

City of Benkelman—$186,000 to rehab six homes for Benkelman homeowners earning at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Family Income (AMFI). Matching funds and in-kind contributions of $18,624 from the City, Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska (MID), and CDS Inspections and Beyond, and other funds of $9,600 complete the project. Village of Butte—$186,000 to rehab six homes for Butte homeowners earning at or below 80 percent of the AMFI. Matching funds of $10,000 from the Village of Butte, and other funds of $6,514 from Central Nebraska Economic Development District and CDS Inspections and Beyond complete the project. City of South Sioux City—$465,000 to rehab 15 homes for South Sioux City homeowners earning at or below 80 percent of the AMFI. Matching funds of $21,200 from the City’s General Fund and $38,826 in-kind contributions from City staff and VISTA workers complete the project.
