$250,000 CDBG funds awarded for water/wastewater project in Firth

LINCOLN, NEB. – March 23, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) today awarded $250,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to the Village of Firth to pursue a project in the Water/Wastewater category.

Firth (pop. 590) will use the funding to construct a new lift station and rehabilitate existing lagoons. An additional $308,900 from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality State Revolving Fund will complete the project.

Federal funds are made available to DED from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program to assist with the development of businesses and communities throughout the state. Funding requests for this program are administered by DED and are available to local governments with populations less than 50,000 and counties in Nebraska.
