$29,878 awarded for new multi-family housing in Norfolk

LINCOLN, NEB. – December 16, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded $29,878 in Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Funds to Building Futures IV, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3, to build 10 new multi-family units. 

The housing project is specifically designed to meet the needs of Liberty Centre Services clientele earning very low incomes and challenged with mental illness.

Currently, Liberty Centre Services manages 44 units in four buildings for its clients; most live independently, or in a 24-hour-staffed home. Current renters and individuals on a waiting list have expressed a personal preference for living alone in their own apartments. The new housing project is designed to provide a living environment that encourages further independence for individuals most capable of living on their own.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will provide $1,097,700, bringing the total project to $1,127,578.
