$250,000 CDBG funds awarded for Oconto water/wastewater project

LINCOLN, NEB. – April 30, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) today awarded $250,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to the Village of Oconto to pursue a project in the Water/Wastewater category.

Oconto (pop. 151) will replace water meters and make improvements to the distribution main with the funding.

USDA Rural Development grant and loan funding will contribute $653,400, along with an additional $210,300 funding from other sources to complete the project.

Federal funds are made available to DED from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program to assist with the development of businesses and communities throughout the state. Funding requests for this program are administered by DED and are available to local governments with populations less than 50,000 and counties in Nebraska.
