$500,000 CDBG funds awarded for water/wastewater projects

LINCOLN, NEB.– February 22, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) today awarded $500,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to the Village of Clearwater and City of Edgar to pursue projects in the Water/Wastewater category.

Clearwater (pop. 390) has been awarded $250,000 in CDBG funding to improve its water system, including installing new water service meters. An additional $242,500 in loans and grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development will complete the project.

Edgar (pop. 425) has been awarded $250,000 in CDBG funding to improve its water system, including installing new water service meters. An additional $79,000 from the Nebraska Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund will complete the project.

Federal funds are made available to DED from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program to assist with the development of businesses and communities throughout the state. Funding requests for this program are administered by DED and are available to local governments with populations less than 50,000 and counties in Nebraska.
